A First Look at El Metador
The Story
After the death of his father and his expulsion from military school, a young Swiss man travels to Peru to fulfill his father’s last wish: to scatter his ashes in the river where he grew up.
There, he discovers that his father was once a famous cumbia musician, loved by many. Lost among strangers, shamanic rituals, and a music he never imagined playing, he decides to finish the last song his father left unfinished — hoping to reconnect with him and with his own Peruvian roots.
To change the course of his life and find his place in the world, the disciplined Swiss must first discover where he truly comes from… and survive Peru.
Logline
A disciplined Swiss man travels to Peru to fulfill his father’s last wish, only to discover the musical legacy—and cultural roots—he never knew were his.
Central Conflict
Nico’s greatest challenge is confronting the clash between his rigid Swiss mindset and the unpredictable reality of Peru. Convinced that discipline and control can solve everything, he soon realizes that true growth requires change. To find his place in the world, he must learn that adaptation is the key to transformation.
El Metador is a story about identity, migration, and the courage to embrace the complexity of who we are
Why This Story Needs
to Be Told
El Metador is more than a film — it is a story about identity, belonging, and the search for where we truly come from.
In a world where millions of people grow up between cultures, this film explores the emotional tension between heritage and ambition, discipline and passion.
Through the journey of its characters, El Metador invites audiences to reflect on their own roots, their dreams, and the courage it takes to embrace both.
